Stretching for surfers is often over looked in the surfing world yet offers tremendous performance benefits for all surfers.  Anyone that takes the time to stretch and improve their ability to twist, turn and rotate when surfing will not only improve long term surfing function they will also improve their surfing energy and ability to perform consistently in the surf.

You see flexibility and stretching for surfing re-calibrates the body, in other words, surf stretching helps to balance the kinks that often develop from repeatedly paddling and surfing. Surfers shoulders, backs and necks are often put into compromised positions for long periods of time and stretching for surfing is the only real way to balance the energy systems and musculoskeletal systems that run our bodies.

In other words, our beach bodies are strong machines that require constant tweaking and check ups to keep them operating as they were designed. Stretching for Surfing Means Less Injuries

Yes. You read that right. Stretching for surfing (when performed correctly) will reduce the likely hood of injuries while also helping to develop power. Surf stretches performed both prior to getting in the water (dynamic) and after a session or at your pad later (static) can boost your surfing ability dramatically. The beauty is it doesn’t have to take much time or effort and can be done just about anywhere.

    HI D, I agree, when ever I stretch more I feel more energy in all my body. When ever I stretch before surfing or working out I also feel looser. Thanks for the website and information. S

    Hi Hayden, great site, just found it, I tried the stuff you showed on this video and it is much harder than it looks. I want to do more work in the gym for my body and my surfing, can you do some gym training programs also? Thanks Zak
